The legendary gal magazine "egg" has enlivened gal culture and has continued to run with the times.

All the gals at the time loved reading "egg" and it had a great influence on gal culture.

Therefore, this time, we will introduce successive models of "egg" that led the heyday of gals!

Natsumi Yoshida (Yoshidango)

Born July 15, 1987

Natsumi Yoshida, affectionately known as "Yoshidango," began her modeling career for egg in 2003 at the age of 15.

She quickly rose to the top, becoming a popular model in no time.

When people were asked which model they liked the most during that era (around 2000–2003), many answered "Natsumi Yoshida," which reflects how popular she was at the time.

Later, she moved on to become an exclusive model for the fashion magazine BLENDA.

She was also known for gracing the cover of BLENDA more than any other model before the magazine was discontinued.

In November 2016, she went to Hawaii to study and obtain her certification as a yoga instructor.

Today, she continues to work as a model and yoga instructor while promoting the charm of vintage clothing through her online shop "Lit Vintage."

Kanae Watanabe (Ka-tan)

Born October 12, 1984

Kanae Watanabe, known by her nickname "Ka-tan," was a former egg model.

In 2004, during the March issue of egg, she made the “Mamba Declaration” at the age of 19, earning the title "Mamba Guru."

She played a pivotal role in promoting Mamba makeup, fashion, and the overall Mamba style.

It is said that the boom of the "Mamba Peace" pose was also influenced by Ka-tan.

Even during her egg days, her occupation was listed as "truck driver," and she was featured in magazines and media as a "Trucker Girl."

She holds six different licenses for operating various vehicles, ranging from large trucks to heavy machinery!

In 2020, Ka-tan gave birth to her first child and is now a mother.

While continuing her work as a truck driver, she also produces a workwear brand called COMPRENDA.

Ka-tan's “Five Mamba Commandments” that she declared in egg are:

  • 1.Always keep your skin black!!
  • 2.Let's wear ALBA ROSA's clothes!
  • 3.Only wear white lipstick!!
  • 4.Always have tons of point hair extensions!!
  • 5.Use MAC foundation!!

Apparently, there was a popular project in which girls who followed at least four of these commandments could become "Otomodachi" (a playful term for close friends with a shared style)!

Rumi Itabashi, also known by her nickname "Rumi Ringo," was a well-known figure in the gyaru circle community.

She belonged to the gyaru circle "Shotei(小帝)," which was active in Shibuya, and she even served as the circle's representative.

She was scouted in Shibuya, which led to her appearance in egg.

At the start of her modeling career, she was a Mamba gyaru, but she eventually transitioned to a white-skinned gyaru, becoming a popular representative of that style.

Aside from her work with egg, she also appeared in the "Gazen ParaPara Gakuen" DVD, which was released by Avex, and played a part in boosting the ParaPara dance boom.

At the age of 20, she discovered she was pregnant, which led her to pause her modeling activities.

She gave birth to her first child in July 2008 and later resumed her work as a mama model.
